The right to public education. It’s something we can all agree on.
Except, we don’t.
Because out of 50 states, North Carolina ranks 42nd in school funding.
Our teacher pay weighs in at a well below average 36th out of 50 states.
And at the start of the 2022-2023 school year, there were over 5,000 teaching vacancies.
The teacher shortage in North Carolina has increased 244% over a 3-year period.
But there’s nothing more American than public education.
For centuries, it’s separated us from the tyranny of kings, the rule of elites. It's the origin of the American Dream, of self-lifting bootstraps, of democracy itself.
IT’S THE ORIGINAL LEVEL PLAYING FIELD.

Our public schools aren’t failing.
We are failing our public schools.
THE DEBATE HAS BECOME
whether to support public schools or some alternative.
BUT THAT IS A FALSE CHOICE
Because no matter what type of education makes sense for your family, thriving public schools lift us all.
Think of any issue you care about.
Healthy public education is at the root of its success.
The economy?
It can’t grow without an educated, skilled workforce.
Crime?
Educated Americans are less likely to end up in jail.
Private school?
Even if your kids don’t go to public school, it’s important the world they enter is full of innovative, educated, civic-minded peers.
